Introducing elearning tools to support training and assessment in Surf Lifesaving in Queensland was always going to be a challenge. But hey, challenges are a way of life for the 30000+ volunteers that make up Surf Life Saving Queensland’s beach patrols.
In the past six months the Australian Lifesaving Academy Queensland has launched a public portal built in Joomla, a trainer and assessor’s Moodle site and Elluminate as a virtual classroom and meeting place. Chris Sutton will outline the project and its outcomes so far and reveal the secrets of success in achieving a response that has been both exciting and unexpected.
