Presented by Professor Ron Oliver, Professor of Interactive Multimedia, Edith Cowan University, Western Australia

This presentation will consider the conditions and affordances of e-learning that help to generate meaningful learning experiences. The presentation will showcase ways in which e-learning technologies have been used in the Flexible Learning Toolboxes to create effective opportunities for learning.

About the Presenter:

Ron Oliver is Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Teaching and Learning) at Edith Cowan University in Western Australia. He has used technology extensively for many years to engage and motivate his students and has extensive experience in the design, development, implementation and evaluation of technology-facilitated learning materials. He has
actively researched in this area for many years, has published over 200 refereed papers, and his particular interests include authentic learning and task-based learning and the sharing and reuse of technology-facilitated learning activities. For the past 10 years he has worked closely with the Flexible Learning Toolbox project as Lead Mentor and guiding the underpinning learning designs.

Ron has won a number of awards for his innovative teaching and research with learning technologies including an Australian Award for University Teaching and a Carrick Associate Fellowship. He is an active member of the editorial boards of a number of international elearning journals and conference program committees and is regularly invited to share his work with national and international audiences.
